Are the Occupy Wall Street protestors big cry babies? How to take other actions against banks.
Terrible crisis. I certainly understand.
The wealth disparity in the United States is growing.
My heart goes out to people in need. I truly feel for those who (1) have lost their jobs, (2) have lost their medical insurance, (3) cannot pay basic bills, (4) cannot afford to buy groceries, (5) and are suffering financially. I watch and read the news everyday. I get it.
The Occupy Wall Street protests have captured my attention - and initially I felt bad - until I abolished my compassionate side and found more clarity with the situation. I realized that those people have been afforded the same opportunities in life that I have.
I do not want to offend any unemployed people, but hopefully you will keep reading! Below, I have provided some useful tips to assist those who are struggling with making their voices heard and how to do take action in other ways.
Why am I upset with Wall Street?
What do they want? Distressed middle class is understandably upset.
I am not sure I agree with the protestors critical thinking process. I think a better way to protest is to write local Senators and Representatives regarding Occupy Wall Street agendas. However, what is the protestor's agendas. What do they want?
- Jobs
- More money
- Free health insurance
- All of the above
A lot of people in the United States are between jobs, and I feel for them. But there are JOBS OUT THERE. No, working at a fast food restaurant may be stinky, but you will earn money (and maybe get free food). Waitering and waitressing ("servers") make a lot of money if you go to work with right attitude and energy.
Going camping on Wall Street?
If you want to camp out on Wall Street - go for it. I would rather review my finances, find options for banks that offer *free* checking account with no debit card fees for my friends who bank with Bank of America.
You can review your finances, research free banking options, explore the fees you are paying on each mutual fund in your 401K, if you still have money in a 401K.
I would rather help those in need by offering ways to save money, writing Hubs with more ideas to save money, and update my existing Hubs with even more ways to cut costs and save a dollar.

Does education help you find and hold a job?
Education is something you choose to do, not something that someones gives to you. If you have an advanced college degree, you are probably more marketable that those with no college degree. However, if you possess an amazing skill with no college education (i.e. sheet metal worker, web designer, etc.), you may not need a degree to find and maintain a great job with decent pay.
Are some of us just unlucky that the companies we work for are folding?

- Write letters to your Senators
- Write a complaint with the United States banking regulator - The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Consumer Complaint Hotline - (800) 613-6743. This department will process a complaint against your bank and assist you with remediation. You have a chance of your bank $ refunding $ you fees your bank may have charged you!

In conclusion
Time acting - and not reacting - may be time better spent. Looking for a job, instead of sitting on a curb, or standing in the middle of a protest, may help you make money and get back on your feet.
"Loitering" may not.
